While the government has the responsibility to make laws and policies, individuals have a fundamental role to play in making their views known to their elected representatives on difficult questions that will shape our future. This paper reflects one way of viewing this question. You may have another way.
The House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights will soon announce a process for hearing from Canadians on how to reconcile the traditional definition of marriage and the recognition of gay and lesbian unions within the framework of the Canadian Constitution and its equality guarantees.
