Services offered
This clinic provides legal assistance and representation to low-income children and youth. Staff lawyers protect the rights and dignity of young people facing conflict with the legal, educational, social service, mental-health and other systems. For instance, the clinic offers legal services on youth criminal justice issues, welfare applications and appeals, access to special education, suspensions and expulsions from school, mental-health issues and human rights. The clinic is involved in family law cases in limited situations where a young person is not living with a parent (such as someone living in a group home or living on the street) – sibling access cases, and child support where such support would be paid directly to the child.
