Federal Statutes and Regulations on Department of Justice’s Web site are now Considered Official and are Available in a Side-by-Side, Bilingual Version

The consolidated statutes and regulations published on the Justice Laws Web Site are now considered official and are admissible as evidence in court. This Web version of federal laws is easy to use, updated weekly, bilingual and authoritative. The Web site provides access to current law as well as historical point-in-time versions of federal legislation.

Another new feature of the Justice Laws Web Site is the availability of legislation in a side-by-side, bilingual PDF version. Reflecting the equal status of the two official language versions of federal legislation, this side-by-side version represents a significant accomplishment to note as the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Official Languages Act is celebrated this year.

These developments are part of an ongoing process of improving Canadians' access to federal legislation.
