Youth Justice Fund: Drug Treatment

Objectives

The Government of Canada’s National Anti-Drug Strategy aims to contribute to safer and healthier communities through coordinated efforts to prevent use, treat dependency and reduce production and distribution of illicit drugs through three action plans: prevention, treatment and enforcement.

The Youth Justice Fund’s Drug Treatment component supports the treatment action plan of the National Anti-Drug Strategy.

Funding Priorities

• Introduction, piloting and evaluation of drug treatment programming for youth involved in the justice system.
• Provision of training on effective interventions with youth with substance abuse issues for justice professionals and/or youth service providers.
• Conferences or workshops that share knowledge of promising practices or programs among justice professionals and/or youth service providers.
• Research that advances the current body of knowledge relating to drug addiction and treatment options, for youth in the justice system in Canada.
