Canadian Law School Faculty Survey

4. DISCUSSION

This survey, the first undertaken by the Department of Justice Canada has provided some valuable information on the nature of research being conducted by Canadian law faculties. It will assist the Department of Justice and the Justice community in identifying individuals who are engaged in the diverse areas of research. The Department would like to foster collaborative research efforts with universities that will be of mutual benefit.

The results will serve as a resource base of research expertise in selected legal areas that the Department and its partners are involved in. Law faculties across the country will have an information base of the research areas that other faculties are engaged in as well. The breadth of knowledge gained from conducting this survey will also be added to with periodic updates of the Canadian Law Faculty Survey in order to keep abreast of new developments in research among law faculties.
