Liard First Nation has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Dena Keh Justice Program.
The goals of the Program are to help the Liard First Nation to re-establish healthy communities and to enable all of its citizens to achieve their full potential through healing, education and employment opportunities.
The Program provides sentencing advice and delivers pre- and post-charge diversion programs to the Kaska people and members of other First Nations living in Watson Lake. Strong working relationships exist between the Program, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Crown and community members. It also provides assistance to the Daylu Dena Council Justice Program serving the Kaska people living in Lower Post, British Columbia.
