Purpose: The Skookum Jim Friendship Centre has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Tän Sakwäthän Youth Diversion and Family Support Program. The Tän Sakwäthän Youth Diversion and Family Support Program's objective is to provide early intervention and healthier alternatives for Aboriginal youth and their families after they have become involved in the justice system. Based on Aboriginal traditional values their Program aims to support youth and their families using traditional teachings and life skills that will enable them to lead happy, healthy and productive lives. Through strong working relationships with the Government of Yukon, community and judiciary organizations, the Program reaches out to all Urban Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in all Yukon communities.
