Purpose: Fishing Lake Métis Settlement has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to deliver a project entitled, "Restorative Justice in our Community." Through this project, members of the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement (FLMS) will benefit from receiving targeted training aimed at expanding their knowledge base of Restorative Justice. Additionally, FLMS's will host and organize a one-day conference on Missing and Aboriginal Women, whereby participants will expand their knowledge base on the following key community issues: inter-generational trauma, addictions and narcotics, gang awareness, sex trafficking and community justice. The overall goal of the Conference will be to build capacity amongst service providers and members of the community offering intervention/prevention services to clients, and strengthen FLMS's long-term objective in developing a Restorative Justice/Alternative Measures program.
