The Justice in Official Languages Team of the Department of Justice Canada’s Official Languages Directorate is happy to present the eleventh issue of its electronic newsletter.
This issue focuses on the funding allocated to the Department under the Roadmap for Canada’s Official Languages 2013-2018: Education, Immigration, Communities. This interdepartmental strategy constitutes the Government of Canada’s third five-year action plan on official languages.
On reviewing the sections of the Roadmap related to justice issues, we note that the $89.8 million granted to the Department over five years is slated for two funds: the Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund and the Contraventions Act Fund.
In the ninth issue of the Newsletter, we presented the Support Fund’s Training component. We now invite you to discover the Information component, notably the establishment of justice information hubs. The feature on funded projects also highlights other interesting related initiatives. In addition, another article focuses on the Contraventions Act Fund and its connection to official languages.
As part of Capsule 41, which presents members of the Departmental Network of Coordinators Responsible for the Implementation of Section 41 of the Official Languages Act, we take advantage of this issue’s theme to introduce Marc Dubois and Yves-Carol Monette, the senior analysts in charge of these two initiatives.
Finally, don’t miss the special section on the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, as well as the OL Quiz!
Happy reading!
The Justice in Official Languages Team
