Advisory Committee on Access to Justice in Both Official Languages
The role of the Advisory Committee on Access to Justice in Both Official Languages is to:
- Act as a liaison between the legal representatives of official language minority communities, spokespersons for these communities, and the Department of Justice Canada;
- Help the Department identify and take into account issues that particularly affect official language minority communities;
- Help the Department to make known the considerations that guide its actions in this area;
- Encourage the dialogue between the legal community, the official language minority communities as well as the governmental organizations represented on the Committee;
- Develop strategies to educate official language minority communities on their rights;
- Devise new tools to improve access to justice in both official languages;
- Identify partners who can best help implement the proposed strategies and tools.
