Conclusion

This part of engagement focused on speaking to, and learning from, Indigenous people who are involved in the criminal justice system and are currently incarcerated. What they have shared as people with lived experience has provided a unique perspective that will be considered as we move forward with Justice Canada’s mandated commitment to develop an Indigenous Justice Strategy to address the overrepresentation and discrimination of Indigenous people within the justice system.
