ALBERTA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED
OTTAWA, May 12, 2014 – The Honourable Peter MacKay, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:
The Honourable John S. Little, a lawyer with Witten LLP in Edmonton, is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta to replace Madam Justice C.L. Kenny (Calgary), who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of May 1, 2014. That position has been transferred to Red Deer.
Mr. Justice Little received a Master of Business Administration in 1985, a Bachelor of Laws in 1986, and a Master of Laws in 1994, all from the University of Alberta. He was admitted to the Bar of Alberta in 1987.
Mr. Justice Little had practised with Witten LLP since 1987 and served as managing partner from 2005 to 2010. His practice included commercial law, real estate law, and corporate law.
Mr. Justice Little acquired a Financial Management Advisor designation from the Canadian Securities Institute in 2003. He served as an instructor at Keyano College from 1993 to 2003, an instructor at the Alberta Bar Admission Course, and a speaker for the Legal Education Society of Alberta on leasing and corporate law matters. He also served as legal advisor to the Edmonton Downtown Academic and Cultural Foundation.
This appointment is effective immediately.
