MANITOBA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, February 27, 2015 – The Honourable Peter MacKay, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Sandra A. Zinchuk, a lawyer with Monk Goodwin LLP in Winnipeg, is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of Manitoba to replace Mr. Justice B.B. Midwinter (Dauphin), who resigned effective September 18, 2014.

Madam Justice Zinchuk received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 1994. She joined the firm of Monk Goodwin LLP after she was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1995. She was most recently managing partner of human resources.

Madam Justice Zinchuk practised bankruptcy law, insolvency law and civil litigation. She was a member of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency sub-section of the Manitoba Bar Association and a past member of the Manitoba Women's Advisory Council. Since 2004, she has been a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Manitoba on limitation of actions.

This appointment is effective immediately.
