Figure 6: Percentage of respondents who indicated that the following have a “high degree of responsibility” in preventing youth crime. This is a vertical bar chart that illustrates the degree to which respondents specified factors had a high degree of responsibility in preventing youth crime. Respondents could indicate if they felt more than one factor had a high degree of responsibility in preventing youth crime, therefore the total of all percentages will equal more than 100. The Y-axis is measured in percentages in increments of 10 from 0 to 90. The X-axis is divided into 9 categories. The X-axis lists the following categories from left to right:

- the law,

Respondents felt that the specified factors had a high degree of responsibility in preventing youth crime as follows:

- youth themselves – 77%,
- the law – 68%,
- courts – 59%,
- police - 56%,
- correctional system – 55%,
- social programs – 50%,
- school system – 43% and
- eligious institutions – 24%.
