This is a horizontal bar graph that shows the absolute number of Aboriginal youth in custody in the 2000 snapshot and in the 2003 snapshot.
The x-axis shows the absolute number of Aboriginal youth in custody, by intervals of 25, from 0 to 300.
The y-axis is divided into 13 categories, representing the provinces/administrations. From top to bottom: Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Canada. Each category is subdivided into two categories, from top to bottom: 2000 snapshot and 2003 snapshot.
In the 2000 snapshot
- In Nunavut, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 13 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 15 youth were in custody.
- In the Northwest Territories, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 90 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 30 youth were in custody.
- In the Yukon, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 15 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 10 youth were in custody.
- In British Columbia, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 90 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 60 youth were in custody.
- In Alberta, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 112 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 85 youth were in custody.
- In Saskatchewan, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 262 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 205 youth were in custody.
- In Manitoba, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 265 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 137 youth were in custody.
- In Ontario, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 270 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 165 youth were in custody.
- In New Brunswick, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 5 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 3 youth were in custody.
- In Nova Scotia, in the 2000 snapshot, approximately 3 youth were in custody; in the 2003 snapshot, approximately 10 youth were in custody.
