Description

Figure 2 is a broken-line graph showing the number of adults charged with drug offences, by type of offence, in the Pacific Region (British Columbia and Yukon) from 1977 to 1998. The X axis shows the year; the Y axis shows the number of adults charged, in increments of 1,000, from 0 to 8,000. There are two broken lines: one (dark blue) showing the number of adults charged with drug possession; and one (pink) showing the number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importing and growing.

The number of adults charged with drug possession decreases throughout the period, from 6,929 in 1977 to 2,488 in 1998.

The number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importing and growing shows an upward trend, from 1,519 in 1977 to 4,620 in 1998.
