The figure above is a broken-line graph showing the number of adults charged in Manitoba from 1977 to 1998, with a projection (dotted line) from 1999 to 2003. The X axis shows the year; the Y axis shows the number of adults charged, in increments of 500, from 0 to 2,500. The number of adults charged remains between 1,034 and 2,142 during the period studied.

The figure shows fluctuations in which the number decreases and increases but always remains below 1,500, until 1982. It then drops below 1,500 and remains rather stable with a slight decrease until 1992, when it reaches its lowest level during the period studied. It then increases slowly during the following years. The projection suggests a similar trend in future years from 1999 to 2003.
