This is a stacked vertical bar chart that illustrates the population of Nunavut by age group for the year 1996.
The Y axis is measured in thousands and increases in increments of one thousand from 0 to 9,000.
The X axis represents the regions and the age groups. The following regions are listed from left to right: Keewatin, Kitikmeot, North Baffin and South Baffin. Age groups are classified as follows: at the bottom is age 1 to 14, then age 15 to24, followed by age 25 to 44 and finally at the top are ages 44 and above.
The population of the Keewatin region is made up of approximately 3000 people between the ages of 1 to 14, approximately 1000 people between the ages of 15 to 24, approximately 2000 people between the ages of 25 to 44 and approximately 1000 people are over the age of 44.
- In the region of Kitikmeot, the population consists of approximately 1500 between the ages of 1 to 14, approximately 500 between the ages of 14 to 24, over 1000 people fell between the ages of 25 to 44 and less than 500 people were over 44 years of age.
- In North Baffin the population was divided as follows: approximately 3000 people were between the ages of 1 to 14, over 1000 people were between the ages of 15 to 24, about 3000 people were between the ages of 25 to 44 and about 1000 people were over 44 years of age.
- In South Baffin the population was divided as follows: approximately 2000 people were between the ages of 1 to 14, less than 1000 people were between the ages of 15 to 24, about 1000 people were between the ages of 25 to 44 and about 500 people were over 44 years of age.
