Description

Figure 2 above is a broken-line graph showing the number of adults charged with drug offences, by type of offence, in the Atlantic provinces from 1977 to 1998. The X axis shows the year; the Y axis shows the number of adults charged, in increments of 500, from 0 to 5,000. There are two lines: the first (dark blue, with lozenges) shows the number of adults charged with drug possession; the second (pink, with rectangles) shows the number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importing and growing.

The number of adults charged with drug possession from 1977 to 1998 ranges from 1,215 to 4,560. The number increases slightly from 1977 and 1981, and then decreases considerably until 1991, at which level it remains stable until 1998.

The number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importing and growing from 1977 to 1998 ranges from 586 to 1,103. The number fluctuates with slight increases and decreases, but overall remains fairly stable from one year to the next.
