The First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI) has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to operate the Tyendinaga Adult Diversion Project - Skátne Entewahahakwatáko (Together We Will Fix the Path).
The FNTI will build capacity for a new diversion process for adult community members residing in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. The project goals are: to develop and document an Haudenosaunee model of restorative justice relevant to the people of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and its adult population; to document Haudenosaunee restorative justice approaches, traditional teachings, ceremonies and healing methods within the model; to create best cultural practices; and to develop an ongoing strategic plan to recruit community volunteers and strengthen the Volunteer Community Committee.
