The Dawson Community Group Conferencing Society has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Dawson Community Group Conferencing Program.
The program provides conferencing services and manages pre- and post-charge juveniles and adults for residents of Dawson City, Yukon.
The program's overall goals are to provide community-based alternative justice services to Dawson City adults and youth, with particular attention to First Nation people; to work with partners to increase the use of restorative processes throughout the Territory; and to sponsor and/or facilitate additional crime prevention, community justice and community health programs for Dawson City citizens. The program accomplishes these goals through on-going contact and education and by working with all levels of government to establish processes to serve community offenders and crime victims.
